Description

The approach trail follows the gorge to the start of a traverse to the left, which becomes increasingly steep until reaching the first suspension bridge. This leads to a beautiful, approximately 10-metre overhanging wall that puts plenty of strain on the arms, before reaching the second suspension bridge on the route.

After crossing the bridge, another highly athletic and exposed traverse offers spectacular views over the entire gorge, leading to a beautiful monkey bridge. The via ferrata then joins a trail that descends to the foot of a pillar, providing a chance to rest before tackling the final challenge: a 100-metre-high section.

This superb pillar leads to the top of the gorge, where a signposted trail heads towards the final suspension bridge, 55 metres long and suspended 80 metres above the Durance.

Access: Reach the car park from La Bâtie des Vigneaux by following the signs. From the Via Ferrata car park, follow the signs to the start.

Return: 10 minutes for the red route and 15 minutes for the black route. Descend alongside the penstock. Pass underneath the penstock to reach the large suspension bridge (55 m long, 80 m above the ground), which provides an easy route back to the car park.
