In a stunning gorge above the Ailefroide torrent, this site offers two exceptional via ferrata routes, accessible to everyone. This magnificent setting, nestled between the rushing stream and the rocky cliffs, provides participants with both refreshing coolness and an exciting challenge!
Description
Located in a gorge between Pelvoux and Ailefroide, this exceptional via ferrata site offers two very well-equipped routes, with plenty of rungs and three suspension bridges, allowing you to cross above the torrent twice.
The first via ferrata is an introductory route, accessible to children from 1.30 m tall, and is ideal for beginners.
The second route follows directly on from the first and is much more challenging, featuring several highly athletic sections with impressive overhangs.
Access: The via ferrata starts just before the Claux tunnel in Pelvoux, on the left bank of the Ailefroide torrent.
Return: 10 minutes for the blue route and 15 minutes for the black route. Follow the signs to find the return trail.

This penstock pipe carries water to the Le Claux hydroelectric power plant, located just below here, which exploits the water from the Les Écrins massif. The power plant was inaugurated in 1932. At the time, the electricity generated was primarily used to power the aluminium factory located in L'Argentière-La Bessée.

FaunaThe willow tit
A soft call, a series of short repetitive notes, is heard in the forest. It's the call of the willow tit, also known as the alpine tit. As for its plumage, it has a greyish brown back, beige underparts, a white head with a black cap and a little black bib, It lives in mountain forests. It is the double of the marsh tit, which tends to live below 1,400 metres.
